My role in the department
Alexandra leads a National research project, Locally Important Weeds, with co-funding from GRDC. This project focuses on four weeds of local importance to specific areas of the WA grainbelt. The weeds of concern are matricaria, marshmallow, feathertop Rhodes grass and stinking lovegrass. Biology and management of these weeds is being studied and the project aims to develop best practice guidelines for each weed. In addition to field research, Alexandra coordinates communication activities by members of DPIRD’s Crop Protection portfolio.
My background
Alexandra has more than 25 years experience in research into crop and pasture weeds and their management. Her experience includes a wide knowledge of herbicides and integrated weed management techniques, project management and communication.
