The Lambing Planner

The Lambing Planner brings together best practice guidelines in one easy-to-use tool.

The Lambing Planner is a simple tool that allows you to change a lambing date or a joining date to see the impacts of that on other key times in the reproductive year.

It sets out key management operations that make up the breeding cycle, providing information on ewe and ram nutrition, condition score targets at different stages and reproductive management. It also features a short best-practice guide for lambing.

New upgrades have improved the functionality of the app, and allows users to register, save plans to the cloud, be notified of upcoming tasks, share plans with others and save plans to their calendar.

The Lambing Planner app has been made possible by the department in collaboration with grower group, ASHEEP & BEEF.

It is available in both Android and iOS formats.

Note - Upgrades to Apple version are complete, upgraded Android version coming very soon.

The Lambing Planner

About

This product was a collaborative effort between the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development and the grower group, ASHEEP & BEEF, Esperance. The Lambing Planner was originally developed as a paper based tool and is still available from the contacts below, supported by Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) and Australian Wool Innovation (AWI).

ASHEEP & BEEF is an association of south coast sheep producers concerned about the loss of sheep and sheep management expertise, particularly amongst young farmers more focused on crops. This association aims to evaluate and extend best practice models for sheep production to encourage a continuing profitable role for sheep in the farming system.

This app was developed by the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, with the grower group, ASHEEP & BEEF based in Esperance.
