Early childhood education resources

DAFWA supports the growth of WA’s agrifood sector in four key areas: markets, productivity, profitability and people.

For schools, links to a range of early childhood education resources about food and fibre have been compiled for teaching students from kindergarten to year two.

General food and fibre education resources

Classroom activities

  • George the Farmer's Australian Farm Adventures App - a storybook style app that teaches children about farming practices and food and fibre production and is full of farming sounds. It follows George, Ruby and Jessie as they plant a wheat crop. The App also includes two games

  • 'Herbert Peabody and His Extraordinary Vegetable Patch' Storybook - illustrated book that aims to share the magic of growing food with children. Teacher notes are available with curriculum links to Science and English learning areas

  • Primary connections - Australian Academy of Science units aligned with the Australian curriculum

  • Primezone - provides teachers with a range of primary industries education resources for all year levels

  • Scootle  - teachers can register here for free teacher resources mapped to Australian curriculum learning areas from K to year 12
