The food and beverage industry in Western Australia supplies a number of high-value niche domestic and international markets.

As a result of stringent safety and quality systems these industries provide premium quality food and beverage products to customers throughout the world.

Western Australia’s food and beverage industry comprises around 1200 businesses employing a labour force around 19 500, with more than two-thirds of these businesses clustered in the Perth metropolitan area and south-west. Food represents around 14% by value of the state’s manufacturing industry.

Our industry supplies a number of high-value niche domestic and international markets. As a result of stringent safety and quality systems our industries provide premium quality food and beverage products to customers throughout the world.

The department supports the development of the industry through collaboration with other state and national agencies, universities and private sector businesses.

Through these networks we aim to drive increased opportunities through product innovation, investment attraction, the development of value-added foods and meeting consumer demand. Using a supply chain approach, we help businesses to capitalise on opportunities by understanding relationships and constraints within the industry.
