Are your stock fit to trade?

Are your stock traceable?
  • owner registered (brand and PIC), LPA or APIQ accredited
  • sheep: correct NLIS year colour tag (and pink tag if non-vendor bred) and ear mark
  • cattle: correct NLIS identification and ear mark or brand
  • pigs: slap brand/tattoo or correct NLIS ear tag
  • all movement recorded on NVD waybill and NLIS or PigPass database
Are your stock safe to eat?
Are your stock free of disease?
  • you monitor stock frequently and closely for any signs of disease. If disease signs appear, you call a vet to investigate
  • you know the signs of emergency animal diseases such as foot-and-mouth disease and would call your vet or the Emergency Animal Disease hotline on 1800 675 888 to investigate unusual disease signs or deaths in stock
  • you participate in surveillance programs to prove area freedom from disease agents (for example, National Arbovirus Monitoring Program)
Are your stock welfare-compliant?
