The State Government has committed almost $94 million to the program since its inception in 2009.
Over 200 community groups and organisations, industry groups, local governments, schools and state agencies have achieved impressive results in their local environments with this support, and contributed more than $50 million in their own funds and effort.
Diverse environments - coastal and marine; agricultural, pastoral and urban; river and estuarine; natural bush; and wildlife sanctuaries - have been conserved and restored through the activities funded by the program.
Funding management and delivery
The State NRM Program office is responsible for managing the State Natural Resource Management Program (State NRM Program).
The Western Australian Government is investing an additional $24 million to continue the State NRM Program until March 2019.
Up to $19.2 million (80 per cent) of the funding is invested through Royalties for Regions and up to $4.8 million (20 per cent) is approved through State Consolidated Funds.
The State NRM Program comprises three grant rounds starting 2015/16 to support community engagement and participation in natural resource management.
Two types of grants are currently available through the Program:
- Community Action Grants
- Community Capability Grants.
