Scenarios
Weeds are a major constraint in Australian cropping systems with added complications such as herbicide resistance and new or emerging weed species. Deciding which weed control technique to implement into different farming systems becomes complicated.
There are four default scenarios in the Weed Seed Wizard:
- Western region - Moora, Western Australia
- Barley - wheat - lupin - wheat rotation with annual ryegrass and wild radish
- Southern region - Balaklava, South Australia
- Barley - lentils - wheat - barley rotation with annual ryegrass, wild radish and barley grass
- Southern region - Wagga Wagga, New South Wales
- Barley - canola - wheat rotation with annual ryegrass, wild oats and a bit of fleabane
- Northern region - Goondiwindi, Queensland
- Wheat - barley - sorghum - chickpea rotation with barnyard grass
- Open the default scenario for your region in the Weed Seed Wizard to see what happens when management options are changed. Modify them to fit your farm (see the Weed Seed Wizard 'build your own scenario' guide).
- Look at the scenarios on this page that have been modified to depict herbicide reistance and dormancy shift.
- Moora, WA - herbicide resistance in wild radish
- Balaklava, SA - dormancy shift in barley grass
- Wagga Wagga, NSW - herbicide resistance in wild oat
- Goondiwindi, QLD - glyphosate resistance in barnyard grass
