Clones for climate change wine tasting

Appreciate the influence clone selection has on wine quality.

DAFWA’s wine researcher Richard Fennessy is hosting a wine tasting of Chardonnay and Shiraz clones as part of a national research project ‘Assessing clonal variability in Chardonnay and Shiraz for future climate change’.

Winemakers and grape growers will have the opportunity to taste and compare six Chardonnay clones grown in both Mount Barker and Margaret River and six Shiraz clones from the Grampians (climatic surrogate for the Great Southern) and Margaret River.

This is a unique tasting opportunity that will demonstrate the influence of clonal selection on wine quality and to compare clonal performance in warmer regions.

To RSVP please contact Richard Fennessy on +61 (0)8 9780 6219  or  0408 239 715.
