The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development has announced a new program to help premium food and beverage producers reach their full potential.

The ‘Expert for a Day’ program is designed to give eligible businesses a kick-start to overcome barriers to growth and realise new market opportunities.

Department Food Industry Innovation Manager Kim Antonio said it was among a suite of programs being offered by the department to support the development of WA premium food and beverage businesses.

“The program builds on the ‘business gap assessments’ or ‘opportunities for improvement’ identified in the Premium Agrifood Market Opportunity report,” Mr Antonio said.

“We want to continue supporting our food and beverage businesses across the State in breaking new ground and delivering outstanding product to customers locally and abroad.

“By providing support for initial engagement with expert service providers, the project aims to inspire ongoing use of skilled advisers and enhance the capability of WA premium agrifood businesses.”

Eligible businesses will have access to a range of industry experts whose skill sets address identified gaps including: branding, labelling and marketing advice; e-commerce expertise; in-market intelligence; logistics; sales capacity; pricing strategies; market and competitor analysis; fast-moving consumer goods; food technologists; and access to specialist knowledge in exporting premium food and beverages.

Businesses can register their interest online to participate in the ‘Expert for a Day’ program.
