Biosecurity awareness

The Department of Agriculture and Food, Western Australia is involved in passive surveillance of many exotic pests including the striped mealybug (Ferissia virgata) and Citrophilous mealybug (Pseudococcus calceolariae). These are two of more than 30 species of pest scales which are found elsewhere in Australia but are not present in Western Australia.

Unfamiliar pests could cause significant problems for our primary industries and environment if they were to become established in Western Australia.

If you see an unfamilar pest please contact the Pest and Disease Information Service (PaDIS) on 1800 084 881 or enquiries@agric.wa.gov.au.
