Harvesting
Timely and efficient harvest processes underpin the delivery of quality product to the market. The Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development provides up-to-date growing season information which enables growers to plan crop production from seeding to harvest. Research is conducted into the agronomic requirements of a range of crops to provide information on seeding, management as well as harvest and postharvest operations.
Western Australia saw a record harvest in 2013/14, delivering nearly 16 million tonnes of grain, despite difficult conditions at the beginning of the growing season where dry months put crops at risk.
