2019-20 nest numbers and locations

The 2019-20 European wasp season closed with 118 nests detected and destroyed in 34 suburbs and 11 Local Government Areas (LGAs). Operations spanned more than 140,000ha with over 4200 traps across 21 LGAs. Most wasp activity was across the Perth metro area, but regional detections included Geraldton and Hyden. Over 1000 public enquiries were received by the department, which led to detections in Herne Hill, Inglewood, Ferndale, Geraldton and Hyden.
