In May 2019, the McGowan Government commissioned the Independent Review (the Review) of the operation and effectiveness of Animal Welfare Act 2002 (the Act). The 18-month Review included extensive industry and public consultation, with the report finalised in December 2020.

The State Government has invested $28 million in Doppler Radar technology.

Funding of $23 million was provided to install three new Doppler radars across the WA Wheatbelt located at Newdegate, South Doodlakine and Watheroo.

Feral cats are the same species as domestic cats, but survive in the wild without human reliance or contact. They are a declared species under the Biosecurity and Agriculture Management Act 2007 (BAM Act).
